This is an excellent "debunking" article, clarifying for parents what to expect when their child is being treated for thyroid problems. It seems logical that if the thyroid problem created the weight gain, that treatment should reverse the weight gain. Apparently that's not likely to happen, and parents may end up feeling disappointed and frustrated when treatment doesn't solve the weight gain issue. It's good to know what to expect - and what not to expect.
